The 18 MW Suchhu Hydropower Project has achieved significant progress in its commissioning process, with successful electrical testing of both generating units.

Electrical testing of Unit-1 was completed on March 16, 2025, involving standard short-circuit and open-circuit tests. The tests were conducted following standard commissioning procedures, leading to the successful synchronization of Unit-1 with the national power grid at 09:13 hours.

Similarly, Unit-2 underwent the same electrical testing procedures at 01:30 hours on March 18, 2025. The positive outcomes of these tests indicate that both generating units are operating as expected and are ready for the subsequent phase of commissioning.

The load throw test, a critical assessment of the units’ capability to withstand sudden variations in load, is scheduled for later in March 2025. Successful completion of this test will pave the way for the full commissioning of both generating units, marking the project’s readiness for operational deployment.
Once fully commissioned, the 18 MW Suchhu Hydropower Project is expected to contribute significantly to the national power grid, enhancing energy reliability and efficiency.
